PC Alumni To Hold Golf Scramble July 4

By Staff | Jun 17, 2009

On July 4 the Paden City Alumni and Families will be teeing off for the 35th time at the Sistersville Country Club beginning with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

The five-person scramble began as something to do on Alumni Weekend, but has emerged as a big event with alumni coming in from all over the country to participate. The scramble is at the Sistersville Country Club.

Last year the ‘Cats’ golf scramble raised $1,600, which was evenly divided between the G.R. Burger and the Hope and Owen McKay Trusts. This year, money raised in the Alumni Scramble will go to one or more scholarships, depending on the amount raised in hole sponsorships.

Scramble Chairman Mike Tallman would like to thank all those who have contributed over the years to help prepare for another Wildcat Invasion. Last year’s sponsors were John Goots, Outdoor World; Linda Leasure, State Farm Insurance; Mike Dorula, in memory of a friend; Tammy Bowers, WesBanco; Dr. Richard Stender, Wetzel Valley Agency; Paden City Building Authority; Paden City Boosters; Moose Lodge 931; Sen. Larry Edgell; Precision Contracting; Save The Groundhogs Foundation; Paden City Eagles Aerie 2281; Ormet; Jarvis Funeral Home; Bayer Corp.; and First Federal Savings Bank.

Past sponsors have included, John Goots, Partitions Inc.; The Paul Wissmach Glass Co.; Bill Goots, Construction N.C.; Union Bank, Sistersville; J.C. Mensore Distributors; Snavel Wood Products, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Sprouse Aluminum; Sistersville VFW; and Homer Toman.
