Hornets Drop Another Close One

By Staff | May 6, 2009

The Hundred Lady Hornets have been close in many of their games this season, but haven’t had the breaks go their way.

On April 27, the Hornets stayed true to the way the season has unfolded so far.

This time it was visiting Clarksburg Notre Dame that knocked the Hornets from their nest with a 4-3 victory.

Jordyn Gorby took the loss from the pitcher’s rubber, striking out six and walking three.

She bashed an RBI single, walked once, stole two bases, and scored a run.

Ohio Valley University-bound Nancy Cumberledge drilled a Notre Dame fast ball to the football dressing room for an RBI double. She added a single, while Jodanna Simpson singled and stole a base.

Lindsay Burley, who continues to hit, smacked a single and stole a couple bases, while Raven “High Octane” McDiffitt walked once, singled once, scored once, and stole two bases.

“Now that we have had a long break due to the weather and have got to play some games, we are getting better each and every game,” said Hornet Head Coach Bryan Bartlett. “Our chemistry grows with every game we play.”
