District Eight Hershey Track
The District 8 Hershey Track & Field Youth Meet will be held at Magnolia High Track on May 25. The meet will start at 10 a.m., with registration prior to the meet, from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
There is no fee for the meet, which is open to boys and girls between the ages of nine to 14 that live in the following West Virginia counties: Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel, and Tyler.
Each child will need to show proof of their age at time or registration. Age groups are determined as of Dec. 31, 2009.
Various events will be available to each age group that may include: 50, 100, 200, and 400-meter dash; 800 and 1,600 run; 4 x 100 meter relay; standing long jump; and softball throw.
Youths may participate in one running event and two fields events or two running events and one field event, but not three of running or field.
No spikes are allowed in any of the races. Winners from the District 8 meet will advance to the state meet.
