Cincinnati Reds Legends Camp

By Staff | May 6, 2009

Baseball enthusiasts will be happy to know the Cincinnati Reds Legends Youth Baseball camp is coming to the area June 22-24 with Big Red Machine Pitcher and Pitching Coach Don Gullett, along with former great Gary Nolan and the Reds’ official mascots, Big Red and Gapper.

The Legends Camp will be held at the VFW Baseball Field at 322 Pike Street in Marietta. To register for the camp call 740-373-3476.

The Legends Youth Baseball Camp is absolutely non-profit and any proceeds from the camp go directly to the Leukemia Society to help sick kids and to help find a cure for the disease.

Other Big Reds’ stars appearing at the youth camp are: Ken Griffey Sr., George Foster, Herm Winningham, Jim Maloney and Leo Cardenas.

The camp is open to kids five to 19 years of age who register by June 15 with a fee of only $105.

All campers who register before this date will receive a Cincinnati Reds Legends commemorative baseball card and a special gift.

Organizers and area kids who have attended previous camps are hoping to improve on the number of youths for this year’s camp.

This is a pitching, hitting and fielding instructional camp and will begin at 10 a.m. daily and run through 3 p.m. each day.

Marietta is a small community and they depend on the kids from this area to make the camp a success. Meals and refreshments will be provided daily.

The camp is a non-profit event and 2009 profits will be donated to the Larry Jones Feed the Children Program.
