Lady Hornets Sting Irish, 59-42

Open looks on offense and plenty of old fashion defense keyed the Hundred Lady Hornets to a convincing 59-42 win over Clarksburg Notre Dame Feb. 12 at the Hornets’ Nest.

The Irish got into a rhythm and outscored their hosts 17-13, but still trailed by seven points, 27-20, at the half.

Hundred picked up its defensive intensity and limited the guests to eight markers in the third to put the finishing touches on the win.

Raven McDiffitt did most of the damage for the Lady Hornets, who evened the season at 10-10. McDiffitt scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Jordyn Gorby had a productive evening as well, scoring a dozen points that included a basket from beyond the arc. She also dished off a half dozen assists.

Nancy Cumberledge and Macy Woods shouldered some of the scoring, too. Cumberledge knocked in 11 points, while Woods tallied 10 markers.

Others contributing were, Tayla Simpson who dropped in six points for the Lady Hornets, while JoDanna Simpson and Chelsea Kuhn each contributed two points.
