Drought Ends For Valley Boys
The drought is over. After winning their first game of the season, the Valley Lumberjacks lost 16 straight before getting the best of Bellaire St. John 65-37 at home, Feb. 10.
The ‘Jacks jumped right out of the gate and scored 19 points, while holding the Irish to seven points in the first period. Valley upped the advantage one in the second period and had a 35-21 lead at the break.
St. John turned up the heat a little in the third, but Valley responded with a 17 point fourth, while holding Bellaire to only four points.
Sophomore Alex Henderson lit up the scoreboard with a game-high 20 points, including a pair of three point buckets beyond the arc to lead Valley. Matt Poling and Ronald Morris each followed with 13 markers. Jeremiah Burch and Garrett Ueltschy each responded with eight points, while Clay Ueltschy netted two.
‘It’s nice to get the monkey off your back and maybe we can build on this win and string out a few more wins before the sections in a couple weeks,” said Valley Head Coach John Kocher.
