Eagles Take Care Of Bruins

By Staff | Oct 29, 2008

Let’s make it three in a row. First Valley won their senior night match with Madonna on Oct. 21, then Paden City defeated Clay-Battelle on the Oct. 22, and then Magnolia defeated the Lady Bruins from Brooke High School at the HammerDome at Magnolia Oct. 23.

Blue Eagle netters Lyn Miller, Tincy Haught, and Annie Potts each scored 19 points to lead the Magnolia Blue Eagles to their senior night victory, winning three of four matches to win the set.

The first set went back and fourth with kills by Miller and Haught doing the most damage. Potts’ serves were on their mark and her bumps and sets by Bree Carr kept the Eagles within striking distance to the end where they defeated the Bruins 25-20.

During the second set the Lady Eagles raced out to a huge lead and never looked back in winning the set 35-17. The third set the Eagles got a little careless and fell 17-25, before getting the 25-17 victory in set four to gain the much-needed victory.

Besides the 19 points by Haught, she would add 20 spikes, with seven finding the Bruin floor. Carr added 15 points for Magnolia and added 30 assists, while Padyn Ludewig chipped in with 12 points and 18 digs. MHS senior Suzanne Snyder added eight points for the Eagles, while freshman Abby Harlan contributed 20 spikes, with 11 finding their mark.

Magnolia will finish their regular season at Burton Gymnasium in Paden City Oct. 30, the day before Halloween, in a tri-match with the Lady ‘Cats and the Lady ‘Jackets of Williamstown before setting their sights for a Sectional crown in November.
