Pilots Sink ‘Zeps, 41-0
The River Pilots kept their unblemished record intact Oct. 10 with a convincing 41-0 shutout of Shenandoah at Flannery Field in Hannibal.
Tyler Brooks claimed the Pilots’ first two scores in the opening period and rushed for 118 yards on only 10 carries in one half of action. Dylan Potts added a pair of TD tosses and ran for another, while taking third to the house on a 78-yard interception return to lead the Pilots to win number eight.
Daniel Starr caught a nine-yard TD, while Taylor Potts hauled in a TD pass from 11 yards out.
The first unit didn’t play much of the game, but when they did, they were very productive. The Pilot offensive ground game amassed 245 yards and three touchdowns, while the air game netted 140 yards and two tallies.
Brooks led the way with 118 yards rushing, while Potts accounted for 60 yards. Jordan Clegg claimed 50 yards and Greg Caretti captured 25. Starr caught five passes for 67 yards and a TD, while Tyler Jeffers added 50 yards and Taylor Potts added 20.
The Pilots will finish the season with an away game against Buckeye Trail on Oct. 17 and will finish off the regular season with a home game against the hated bunch from Frontier Oct. 24. Both games have a starting time of 7:30 p.m.
