Lady Blue Eagles Win Two Matches

Magnolia defeated the River Pilots and the Wheeling Central Lady Maroon Knights in volleyball last week. On Sept. 16, River took games one and three, while the Eagles bounced back to win games two, four and five.

The Eagles’ Bree Carr led all scorers with 25 points, while Suzanne Snyder netted 14. MHS freshman Abby Harlan dropped in 11 points, while Kelsi Heasley and Padyn Ludewig each netted 10. Lacy Jackson chipped in with eight points off the bench for the high-flying Eagles.

Against Wheeling Central, the Eagles lost the first set 25-22 and then swept them 25-14, 25-12 and 25-18 in the three to gain the nod. Tincy Haught led all Blue Eagle scorers with 21 points, while Carr chipped in with 15 points. Snyder and Annie Potts split 19 points, while Harlan netted seven points. No other stats were reported by the Lady Eagles.

Magnolia will take on Wheeling Park on Oct. 16 at the Palace On The Hill, and will entertain the Lady Bruins of Brooke Oct. 23 at the HammerDome, and finish the regular season at Paden City in a tri-match with Paden City and the Williamstown Yellowjackets Oct. 30.
