Hornets Slain By Dragons, 48-19

By Staff | Oct 15, 2008

Hundred Hornet Zach Watson led his team with 96 yards rushing and a touchdown, but it wasn’t enough, as the Hornets fell 48-19 to the Cameron Dragons on the Dragons’ homecoming night.

After three straight Dragon TDs in the first period, Watson found the end zone on a nifty 50-yard scamper. Hundred found the end zone to their liking in the second quarter also. Logan McDiffitt hauled in a 47 yard Dalton Kuhn touchdown pass and Chris McDiffitt was true on his point after kick. However, the Hornets went into the locker room down big, 41-13.

Cameron scored a touchdown in the third period, but was held in check the rest of the way. Although Hundred was held scoreless in the third period, Zach Phillips found pay dirt from one yard out after a long productive drive late in the fourth period to close out the game.

The Hornets moved the ball well at times, but shot themselves in the foot with penalties that stopped nice drives and forced third and long situations.

Besides the 96 yards from Watson, Phillips added 25 yards rushing and Logan McDiffitt caught four passes from Kuhn for 66 yards. The Hornets moved the chains 13 times to 18 moves for Cameron.

Hundred will play at home Oct. 17 against Gilmer County before finishing the season at Tygarts Valley and Hannan, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, respectively.
