Blue Eagles Fall to Tyler Consolidated
Magnolia traveled cross county to Tyler Consolidated on Wednesday, February 25, looking for a late season win over the Silver Knights, however the Blue Eagles fell short in a hotly contested game 76-60 before a large crowd at the Castle.
Tyler surged in front 37-26 heading into the halftime break, with Brody Giovinazzo scoring 11 of his 13 points on the night in the first two quarters , while Cole Lemasters added nine in the half. Kingston Christen and Brayden Byers kept the Blue Eagles within striking distance with nine each after two quarters of play. However Lemasters was just getting warmed up and knocked in 17 second half points to lead the Knights to the win with a game high 26 on the night despite making just 1-8 from the free throw line. Landon Boggs and Josh Mace each added eight points for the home team, while Strode and Highley both hit for six markers. Morris got five, Bordenkircher and Etienne each had two to round out the scoring for the winners.
Magnolia received 22 points from Christen and 13 from Byers, while Jessup Higgins supplied nine in support. Noah Hood, a 6-7 sophomore added seven points on a 3-pointer and 4-7 at the free throw line. Kody Sickles hit for five points.
Magnolia hit 23 shots from the floor, including four 3-pointers and made 10-16 from the free throw line. Tyler Consolidated hit 28 field goals including eight 3’s and knocked in 12-24 from the foul line.
The Blue Eagles fell to 8-12 with the loss, while Tyler Consolidated moved to 7-14 with the win.
