The Lady Pilots took control early and never let up as they defeated the visiting Panthers from Rayland 57-17 inside R. L. Potts gymnasium in Hannibal on Saturday night, January 31.

After a weeklong delay due to the big snowstorm, River turned up the heat in the first quarter outscoring the Panthers 20-6 and then held the visitors to one point in the second frame to take a commanding lead 31-7 at the break.

With sophomore Carleigh Trifonoff’s 30 points in just three quarters leading the way the Lady Pilots went up 52-13 lead after three quarters and cruised to the win . Trifonoff’s effort included seven 3’s

The Pilots controlled every aspect of the game with three players hitting double figures. Ava Wohnhas scored 11 and Zoey Fox knocked in 10. Lynn Jones hit a 3-pointer and Brayleigh Trifonoff added a basket for two points.

The Panthers were led by Brooke Driscoll with seven points, while Emma Vitelli added three.

River hit 21 shots from the floor, including eight 3’s and made 6-12 free throws. Buckeye Local hit five field goals including two 3-pointers and made 5-20 free throws.
