Hundred Athletes Lead Cee Bee’s

Despite leading most of the first half , the Cee Bee’s of Clay Battelle, led by four former Hundred Hornets dropped a nine point decision 85-76 to Parkersburg Catholic on Saturday, January 24, in the New Martinsville Rotary Challenge. The C.B’s and Crusaders played to a 21-21 first quarter draw, with Colt Sandy, Trey Huggins and Jaxson Huggins of Hundred hitting for 13 of Clay Battelle’s points in the period. Sandy had seven in the second frame while T. Huggins added a deuce.

Catholic went into the locker room up 38-34 after a late second quarter surge gave them the lead. They added to the lead in the third quarter by outsourcing the Cee Bees 27-20. The visitors hit for 22 points in the fourth frame with Sandy getting 12, but it wasn’t enough as Catholic held on for the win.

Sandy had a big night for Clay Battelle as he knocked in 34 points and pulled down 17 rebounds for a double-double, while also blocking three shots. T. Huggins added 15 points, including a trio of 3’s. J. Huggins added a 3-pointer and six rebounds, while Sleeth was credited with two steals and two assists in limited playing time.

The Crusaders had four players hit in double figures with Carter Nelson leading the way with 25 points, including six 3’s. Catholic hit 31 shots from the floor, including nine 3-pointers and made 14-25 free throws, they had 31 rebounds and eight steals, while Clay Battelle hit 30 baskets, including eight 3-pointers and made 8-11 from the free throw line, collared 33 rebounds, and forced seven turnovers.
