The Lady Pilots hosted Shadyside on Thursday night, January 15, at R.L. Potts Gymnasium in Hannibal, in girls high school basketball action and came away with a 56-51 win to up their record to 6-6 on the season.

The home team took a first quarter lead and held on for the win in a tight game throughout. After leading by just two at the half, the Pilots won the second half by three. Leading the way for River was sophomore Carleigh who hit for a game high 19 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. The Pilots had three players in double figures, with Ava Wohnhas adding 16, while pulling down 11 rebounds. Senior Zoey Fox hit for 14, while making 3-4 free throws and getting nine rebounds and two blocks. Senior Lynn Jones came through with seven points, all in a crucial third period.

Shadyside was led by Kaci Tsoras with 14 and Cam Kolvek with 11. Sansa added nine.

The Lady Pilots hit 21 field goals, including four 3’s and made 10-20 free throws. The Tigers hit 19 shots from the floor including 11 3-pointers and made 2-3 free throws.
