Magnolia Lady Eagles Fall to Clay Battelle 53-49
First year Head Coach Tim Starkey’s Lady Eagles opened the 2025-2026 season at home on Thursday evening December 4, against the Clay Battelle Cee Bees and fell to the visitors by a 53-49 score.
The Cee Bees started the game hitting two quick jumpers and moved out to a 13-4 first quarter lead, helped out by several early Blue Eagles turnovers. In the second quarter, it was vice versa as Magnolia turned up the defensive pressure forcing the Lady Cee Bees into turnovers that turned into easy baskets.
Aubrey Warder nailed a long three-pointer from the top of the key to put the Eagles up 16-15 and the Eagles would go into the halftime break with a 22-21 lead behind six points each from Aubrey Warder and Karli Warder.
Following the break Magnolia went back into turnover mode which led to the Cee Bees getting good shots and scoring points. However, the Blue Eagles were making baskets as well and the score was tied at 45 with 2:03 left in the game following a Aubrey Warder layup.
The Cee Bees would then get a couple steals that led to easy baskets to go up 53-46 with seconds remaining in the game. Kaylee Yost would drain a long three-pointer at the buzzer for the Blue Eagles to make the final 53-49 in favor of the visiting Cee Bees.
Magnolia was plagued by poor free throw shooting and turnovers which led to the Cee Bee win. The Eagles
are (0-1) on the season, while Clay Battelle goes to (1-0). The Eagles were led by Yost netting 19 points, including a three-point basket, Aubrey Warder added 8 points with a three, Karli Warder hit for 8 markers, and freshman guard Jacelyn Miller hit two three-pointers and finished with 8 points. Bella Sockman added 6 points, and Audri Quinn got two points.
The Blue Eagles were in action last night against Wood County Christian and will visit Valley on the 16th. .
