River Football
The 2025 high school football season is underway in Ohio, with the first games of the season taking place this week. Kickoff for River will take place on Friday night as the Pilots host Perry Traditional Academy, a team from the Pittsburgh area.
Coach Flannary said he doesn’t know much about them, but he believes his team will be ready to go after three weeks of preseason workouts in the heat of August.
“For the first time in many years, I feel we are going to have depth in most positions. That gives us the ability to rotate players in and out, to keep them fresh. That’s a real advantage, especially early in the season,” said coach Flannery.
The Pilots have three straight home contests with Buckeye Local coming to town next week and will host cross county rival Monroe Central on September 5.
If you’re looking for something to do this week check out the local sports scene as volleyball action is under way and opening night on the gridiron starts Friday. Should be an interesting season for local teams as they vye for success and trips to the post season.
Look for the Pilots to get off to a good start with an early season win over the Academy 14-13.
