The 2025 Magnolia Blue Eagles Open Fall Practice

By Rick Loy - Staff Writer | Aug 15, 2025

Coach Craig Mason’s 2025 edition of the Magnolia Blue Eagles football team got underway when they held their first practice on Monday morning August 4. With around 40 kids out for the team. Coach Mason said, “I am happy with the numbers, there are 5 or 6 kids not present because of either illness or working. As of right now, we have six kids from the recently closed Paden City High School on the team.”

It was good to see the numbers up for the experienced Blue Eagles who will be led by mostly seniors who have taken their lumps over the past three seasons with most starting as freshman.

Returning are quarterback Kingston Christen, plus receivers Finn “speedy” Loy, and Preston Beverlin, who is back after missing last season with an ankle injury. Connor Carpenter, Brody Vargo and a few more are in the mix. The running back position will have Hunter Cooley and Rydge Moffitt, who is currently nursing an injury. Basically, all the offensive linemen are returning bigger and stronger.

The team has a lot of speed with size and is hoping to enjoy a winning season. The key to the season’s success will be to stay healthy. Last year’s squad fought through injuries to key players and that got some youngsters thrown in the mix earlier than expected. Good luck Coaches and players for a successful season in 2025.
