Magnolia Falls to Trinity in Regional Play 7-2

The Lady Blue Eagles hosted Trinity on Monday night, May 19, at the Hydro field in New Martinsville. The Blue Eagles started out quick and took a 2-1 lead after the first inning, but never scored again while the visiting Warriors sent six more across the plate to get the win in the best of three series to see who plays in the state tournament.

Neither team scored in the second inning, but Trinity added two in the third and two more in the sixth to get the win. The Blue Eagles managed six hits on the night led by Gabby Hudson, Sienna McKeever and Mallory McDiffitt who all doubled on the night. Jessa Anderson had a pair of singles for Magnolia and also was credited with a stolen base. Sophia Alexander singled and drove in a run.

McDiffitt took the loss on the mound going the distance for the Lady Eagles, striking out 11 batters, while surrendering eight hits and walking five. The home team committed three errors on the night which allowed two runs. Trinity had one error.

The Warriors Josalyn Phillips homered and drilled a double to drive in four runs. Olivia Thompson picked up the win on the mound, throwing a complete game and recording 13 strikeouts.
