Magnolia Beats Valley in Regional

The Blue Eagles hosted the Lumberjacks Wednesday evening May 14, in the Regional loser’s bracket and eliminated Valley by the score of 11-6. Valley ends the season at (4-17). Magnolia improved to (8-17) and will advance to play the loser of Cameron and Notre Dame. They would need to beat the loser once and then beat the winner twice to advance to the state tournament. Connor Carpenter started the game on the mound for Magnolia and was relieved, but came back in the top of the seventh inning to finish it. Aiden Fluharty picked up the win for the Eagles on the mound.
Magnolia scored in the bottom of the first inning after Finn Loy walked, stole second base (had 3 stolen bases and scored on all three) and Carpenter, who had a big night at the plate singled Loy home for the Eagles first run. Carpenter would end with three singles and two RBI on the evening. Fluharty brought home two runs with a single. Rydge Moffitt doubled driving in a run. Riley Dennis had a hit and a run batted in, while freshman Noah Hood also had a hit for an RBI. Brayden Byers, Loy, and Jonah Coulter each had a hit for the home team.
The Lumberjacks added three runs in the third inning with freshman Gaige Wichterman drove in two runs for the Jacks, Colton Haught singled and had 2 RBIs, and Austin Wykert had a big night at the plate with four singles and an RBI for the Jacks. Colton Haught relieved starter Cason Haught on the mound in the third inning and suffered the loss.
Magnolia had 11 runs on 10 hits. Valley collected 6 runs on 7 hits.
