Peyton Blue signs with Potomac State.

Throughout his high school career playing for the River Pilots, Peyton Blue has excelled at sports. Those years of achievement and dedication have given him the opportunity to play baseball for WVU Potomac State in the upcoming collegiate year.

Peyton will graduate with a 3.8 GPA and National Honor Society recognition. In his freshman year at River HS, Peyton was awarded the distinction of being All Times Leader Player, All MOVL, all OVAC, All Valley and eastern District 1st team along with All-Ohio Second team.

In the spring of 2023, he once again was awarded All Times Leader Player, All MOVL, All-OVAC, All Valley and Eastern District-1st Team. Peyton was also named OVAC Player of the Year. East District-Player of the Year and All Ohio 2nd Team.

In his Junior year, He once again was awarded All MOVL, All OVAC, All Valley and All East District-1st Team. Peyton was also named to the All-Ohio 2nd Team.

During the summer months in both 2023 and 2024 Peyton played for St. Clairsville Legion Post 159. He then went on to the Ohio State Legion Tournament and batted .500 during the tournament.

Peyton not only excelled at baseball; he was a top player for the River Pilots during football season. In his freshman year he received All East District Honorable Mention. In his sophomore year he was named to 1st team All Ohio. In his senior year he once again was named to All East District. And BACF All Star Team.

During his high school career, he also played basketball and was named to 2nd team All OVAC in his sophomore year. In his last year as a senior, he was named to the All Valley team, All East District and Honorable Mention All Ohio.

Peyton explained that his choice in going to Potomac had to do with the program fitting his style of play and because of some new NCA rules. He said he chose baseball because his dad played in college and he wanted to follow his example and play the game they both love.

In college Peyton wants to study business and education. He plans on in the future. His father, River baseball Coach, Tim Blue stated he has coached Peyton since he was four years old up through his senior year. He describes his son as hard working and dedicated. He knows that he will grow when he begins playing collegiate ball.

The head coach at Potomac is Doug Little. Tim played college ball with Doug back in the 80s, so they have known each other for a lifetime. He feels confident Doug will pick up coaching Peyton and help to refine his skills. Peyton will be playing first base and will be a designated hitter on the roster.

Before the interview with Peyton ended, he wanted to give all his teammates and coaches over his high school career credit for helping him to grow and be part of a team of River Pilots he will long remember.
