Lady Pilots Fall To Marietta
Visiting Marietta slipped past River on Wednesday night, April 1, in Sardis, although the Lady Pilots outhit the Tigers 15-7. The visitors got on the board first with two runs in the top of the 2nd and added two more in the 3rd before the home team sent two across the plate in the bottom of the 3rd to make it 4-2 Marietta.
The Lady Tigers added a run in the top of the 5th for a 5-2 lead, but the Lady Pilots scored one in the bottom of the 5th to end the scoring on the night.
Ava Wohnhas took the loss on the mound for the Pilots striking out seven batters and walking two. Marietta’s Malone got the win despite surrendering 15 hits. She also struck out seven batters, while walking one.
Presley Kilburn had the hot bat for the Pilots going 4-4 with four singles and an RBI. Jayda Kinney-Blair added three singles and an RBI. Kaylee Hagan hammered two singles and a double and Bri Wiley cracked a triple and a pair of singles.
Both teams committed two errors, while River left nine runners on base. The Pilots fell to 10-13 on the season while Marietta improved to 8-8.
