3 on 3 Tournament Held in Sistersville

Action From the 3 on 3 Tourney.
Despite a low turnout and some rain, the 2nd 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament for People First of West Virginia held at Sistersville Park, April 26th, was a success. Seven players came out to compete. With one team of 14-16-year-olds and the other of kids ages 8-10, it was obvious that it wouldn’t be a fair contest. Organizer, Dave Shelton, advisor to People First of West Virginia Paden City, then decided to mix up the teams. It proved to be a competitive game as the final score was 23-21, and the skills of the younger players were impressive according to Shelton who has coached at the LA Lakers’ and UCLA’s recruitment camps under former Lakers’ coach, Mike Dunleavy, and former UCLA coach Jim Harrack respectively.
Shelton would like to thank sponsors, Kings Corner, The Fort, and The Sistersville Public Library as well as Randy and Mary Ann Rutherford, Steve Canfield and Courtney West for supplying the basketballs. Further thanks go to Lynsay Frye, President of People First of West Virginia Paden City and People First director, Alexis Ullman, who braved the weather to come up from Parkersburg. Shelton said that he will be holding another tournament later in the summer and hopes for a better turnout for a great cause.
