River Clips Blue Eagles In Extra Innings

The Lady Pilots fell behind on Thursday evening April 24, in Sardis to the visiting Blue Eagles, but battled back to tie the game and send it into extra inning where they prevailed by scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth to get the win 6-5 and improve to 10-10 on the season while the Blue Eagles fell to 7-7.
The Eagles scored single runs in the first four innings and River plated a pair in the bottom of the 3rd to make it 4-2 Magnolia heading into the 5th. The Pilots tied the game in the bottom of the inning and from there it stayed tied until Magnolia went on top in the 9th with a run. River however came right back in the bottom of the inning two plate two runs to get the walkoff win.
River was led by freshman Mallarie Maddy hitting a home run to drive in two runs. Kaylee Hagan went 5 of 6 with three singles, a double and a triple to drive home a pair of runs. Ava Wohnhas singled and doubled, while picking up the win on the mound going all nine innings. She struck out 12 batters, while walking four and giving up seven hits.
Mallory McDiffitt took the loss, surrendering 12 hits, issuing two walks and striking out 12 batters. McDiffitt led the Eagles with a single, double and two RBI. Jessa Anderson had a single and two doubles and drove in a run. Sienna McKeever and Caroline Heil both doubled for the Blue Eagles.
