Pilots Fall to Caldwell

The visiting Redskins battled the River Pilots on Wednesday night in Sardis and returned home with a hard fought 6-3 victory. The Pilots got on the board first plating a run in the bottom of the first inning, but the lead was short lived as the visitors from Caldwell tied the contest 1-1 in the top of the second and took control in the top of the third sending three runners across the plate for a 4-1 lead they would not relinquish.

Caldwell added two more in the top of the fifth for a 6-1 lead, before the Pilots scored a run in the fifth and added another in the 7th but couldn’t get any closer.

The Redskins were limited to five hits on the evening, however five Pilot errors contributed to the visitors’ score. River out hit the visitors with 7 hits but the Redskins only committed two errors and River left seven runners on base.

Leading the way for River at the plate was Easton Huntsman with 2 hits and an RBI. Lucas Dennis, Kaden Hunt, Peyton Blue, Hunter Ruble, and Cale Willis all contributed a hit. Blue and Ruble each had an RBI. Nething took the loss for the Pilots working 3 innings, giving up 3 hits, 4 runs, walking one and striking out 2. Dennis worked 3.1 innings giving up 2 hits, 2 runs, walking five and striking out one. Trey Larrick worked 0.2 innings to close it out.

Fry picked up the win for Caldwell going 4.1 innings.
