Paden City Baseball Defeats Hundred in Final Sports Competition Between the Schools

Visiting Hundred was looking for their first win of the season on Monday night, March 31, in Paden City against the winless Wildcats. However the home team Cat’s picked up their first win of the season by defeating the Hornets 10-0 with senior pitcher Kayden Myers tossing a no-hit game. Myers helped his own cause going two for four with five RBI’s. Garrett Parrish chipped in with one hit. Jack Nelson, Jake Billiter and Cannon Matheny each had one RBI.
The loss dropped Hundred to 0-5 on the season while Paden City improved to 1-3. Taking the loss for the visitors was Austin “Lefty” LaRue.
The sports history between the two schools dates back to the late 50’s and has offered some fierce competition. They have locked up in some good battles over the years in Basketball, Football, Baseball, Softball and Volleyball. Some tremendous athletes have emerged from each school.
Both teams are playing their last season as a high school as Paden City will be moved in with Magnolia and Hundred with Valley at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year. The Hornets have seven freshmen on this year’s team of 10 players and Paden City is playing with a nine man squad. This was the last scheduled meeting between the two teams before consolidation.
