Magnolia Gets Revenge Win Over River

The Blue Eagles traveled across the river Tuesday night February 4th and avenged a loss to the River Pilots a week ago by beating the hosts 49-43. Early in the game River came out hot and led the Eagles 17-3 late in the first quarter. River would lead 25-16 at the half.
Following the break River maintained the lead until the middle of the fourth quarter when the Blue Eagles turned up the defensive pressure causing River to turn the ball over leading to easy baskets for the visitors. Kingston Christen hit for 10 points in the final quarter and Hunter Oates recorded three steals in the period to help the Eagles take the lead and improve to (7-8) on the season. Christen was game high scorer netting 20 points, Oates added 12 points and nine steals, while Darin Shrimp added 9 points to pace the victorious Eagles. Dubale Greathouse hit for six markers and pulled down eight boards. Eli Midcap added two points to round out the Blue scoring.
River got 18 points from Payton Blue, Lucas Dennis added 8 points, Evan Longwell hit for six points and Crestyn Isaly hit two three-pointers for the Pilots who fell to (7-10) on the season moving into sectional play.
Magnolia hit 16 shots from the floor,including two 3’s and made 13-17 free throws. River hit 15 field goals including six 3’s and made 5-11 from the line.
