Hornets Sting Blue Devils
Hundred came to play on Friday night, December 27, at the Hornets Nest and sent the visiting Beallsville, Ohio Blue Devils back home on the short end of a 70-37 score. The win moved the talented and improving Hornets to 2-4 on the season.
Hundred went to work right off the bat on Friday as they lit up the scoreboard for 29 points in the first quarter, while limiting Beallsville to five. Jaxson Huggins knocked in seven points in the first eight minutes, while Trey Huggins, Brayden Bartrug, and Colt Sandy all added six. Point guard Tyler Sleeth pitched in four in the frame. The Blue Devils Gabe Erig had a big night hitting for 29 points including 20 in the second half to lead all scorers, but only two other Blue Devils dented the scoreboard as Jayson Ramey added five and Jameson Roble hit three free throws.
The Hornets led 42-18 at the break and increased their lead to 64-29 after three quarters before removing the starters in the fourth quarter.
Sandy finished with 17 points for the home team including 11 in the second half. Bartrug also hit in double figures with 15, while T. Huggins and Sleeth each ended with eight. J. Huggins added seven. Hundred finished with 31 field goals including five 3-pointers and made 3-4 free throws. T. Huggins hit two 3’s in the first quarter, while J. Huggins added one. Sandy drilled on in the third as did Ryley Wright who finished with five points. Lyndon Johnson pitched in three baskets for six markers and Gavin Rakes added four points all in the fourth frame.
Sandy and Bartrug controlled the boards with 11 rebounds each while J. Huggins had four rebounds and three assists. Sandy had two blocks and a steal. Sleeth ended with five assists and four steals on the night.
Beallsville made 13 shots from the floor and made 7-13 free throws.
