Lady Wildcat Basketball Practice Begins
Paden City Wildcat Girls basketball got underway with eight players and four of five starters returning from last year’s squad. Although the numbers are small they have a strong nucleus returning with Seniors Kim Burch and Brook Gray leading the way.
Head Coach Josh Fulks and Coach Hannah Shreve are grateful that they get to coach this group of athletes this season. Some of the goals the Wildcats have set for the season include to work on fundamentals and learn from each practice and game, compete in the OVAC and lastly have a winning record this season.
Returning from last season is Senior Kimberly Burch. “The Lady Wildcats are going to rely on her senior leadership this season. Also counted on is Junior Junior Ashton Wade. Ashton had a very good sophomore season, she will be our big under the basketball and we will be expecting her to clean up the boards. Junior Katie Householder will lead the offense from the point guard position. Katie has drastically improved over the past two seasons and I am expecting her to have a breakout year. Up next will be Sophomore Harmony Gross. Harmony will be our all around player. We expect her to be all over the floor. Harmony will also be expected to clean up the boards and play aggressive defense,” said Coach Fulks.
Also vying for playing time will be Junior Hopelynn Ewing, Junior Linsly Leek, Senior Brook Gray and Junior Patricia Wade will be battling out the last starting position. “All of these girls have been working hard in practice and all four will have a chance for the last starting position,” said the coach.
Paden City will open the season on December 5, 2024 at home against Bridgeport Ohio beginning at 7:30.
