Blue Eagles Get Sectional Win

Magnolia celebrates its win in the Sectional Final over St. Mary's.

Magnolia Lady Blue Eagles emerged victorious over St. Marys in the Section Final at Magnolia Gymnasium on Wednesday evening, October 30, by winning three out of four sets. The first set was a nail-biter, with both teams fighting tooth and nail for every point. It was a back-and-forth battle, but Magnolia managed to edge out St. Marys with a final score of 27-25 with Sienna McKeever delivering a thunderous spike for the winning point. McKeever and Jessa Anderson had several hard kills in the match.

The second set saw Magnolia dominate as they took control early on and never looked back. With precise serves and powerful spikes, they secured a convincing win with a score of 25-17.

However, St. Marys fought back fiercely in the third set and secured a win by a score of 25-21. Determined not to let the match slip away, Magnolia came roaring back in the fourth set led by good defense and hard spikes to win the set and match with a 25-21 score.

Magnolia improved their record to (17-13) on the season and will move on to regional play.

Leading the way for the Blue Eagles was Jessa Anderson who had a big match serving up a game high 15 points including 4 no touch aces. She also played tough at the net with 19 kills and a block, plus she hit the floor for 29 digs. Right there with her was senior star Sienna McKeever who had 10 service points including an ace, while also knocking down a match high 21 kills and adding 28 digs, plus an assist.

Sidney Knight stepped up big in her role with a match high 44 assists on 89 sets. She added 9 service points including an ace, plus two kills, nine digs and an assist. Aly Stillwagoner got 7 service points and hit the floor for 28 digs. Kaylee Williams filled the stat sheet with 9 points from the service line, including 2 aces, plus 5 kills, 4 digs, one assist and one block. Mallory McDiffitt added 6 service points including an ace, one kill, 4 digs, one assist and one block. Karli Warder ended with 3 kills, 6 digs, one assist and 3 blocks.
