Valley Boys Fall to Tyler Consolidated

The Lumberjacks traveled to Tyler Consolidated on Wednesday Night, February 14, in hopes of picking up their 13th win on the season, but the homestanding Silver Knights quickly established their dominance with an opening quarter 18-7 advantage, on their way to a 68-42 victory.

In the first eight minutes of play Valley only had one player dent the scoreboard as sophomore dandy Gavin Derby hit all seven points. For the Silver Knights they had six players score in the frame with Conner Bailey hitting seven and Bo Tallman drilling a three, to propel them to the 11 point lead.

Things got even worse for the Lumberjacks in the second quarter as the Knights outscored them 22-10 to take a 23 point lead into the locker room.

Valley regrouped at halftime and gained six points back in the quarter, by outscoring the home team 14-8, however it wasn’t enough to get back in game, and the Knights poured in on in the last eight minutes 20-11 to get the 26 point win.

Leading the way for the Lumberjacks was Derby with 13 points, including a 3-pointer, while Dallas Preat added nine points. Patrick Higgenbotham and Briggs Anderson each added six,, while Trevor Stackpole hit for four and Landon Jerico and Chris Kennedy each got two.

The Silver Knights received a game high 18 points from Bailey, including a 6-8 showing from the free throw line. Carson Gorby added 16 markers, including four long range 3ás. Also in double figures was Garon Broughman with 10 points. Hayden Brown knocked in five, including a 3-pointer, and Zade Billings with four, and Bo Tallman with three rounded out the scoring.

The Knights hit 26 field goals, including six from three point land, and went 10-18 from the charity stripe. Valley hit 14 shots from the floor, including four 3ás, and went 10-15 from the free throw line. The Lumberjacks now stand at 12-9 on the season.
