Paden City Tames the Tigers

The long bus ride to Mt Storm, West Virginia for the Paden City Wildcats did not affect their performance as they had two players reach double figures in a 40-24 win over Union on Saturday, February 11. The Wildcats wasted a little time putting away the Tigers as they led the entire game for the win. Adri Lila led all scorers with a game high 20 points followed by Joey Baker with 10. Defense was the name of game for the Cats limiting Union to only 24 points with only three points coming from the foul line. Also scoring for the Wildcats was Jeremiah Thomas with four and Mickey Guerra with four.

Paden City Boys Pick up 3rd Win in a Row

The Paden City Boys Basketball team played host to the Calhoun Red Devils on Monday February 13 and picked up their 3rd win in a row defeating the Red Devils 43-37. The game was closae throughout with the Wildcats taking a three point lead at the half 20-17. The third quarter saw Calhoun fight nback outscoring the Cats 12-9 to tie the score entering the fourth. Paden City used pressure defense that held Calhoun to eight points while scoring 14 for the victory.

The Wildcats were again led by Adri Lila scoring 11 of his game high 17 in the fourth quarter. Adri recorded a double double adding 10 rebounds to his total. Jeremiah Thomas followed Adri scoring nine points, Also in scoring column for the Wildcats was Oskar Lehtonen with six, Mickey Guerra with four. Brayden Neff chipped in with a 3-point shot for three points and Joey Baker added two points.

Next up for the Wildcats is a trip to Weirton to take on the Madonna Blue Dons on February 15. Paden City will end the regular season on February 21 with a home contest verses Doddridge.

Wildcats Fall to Weirton Madonna

The Paden City Boys Basketball team traveled to Weirton on Wednesday February 15 to battle the Blue Dons but came home on the short end of a 72-51 defeat. Madonna jumped on the Wildcats early taking a 27-9 lead after the first quarter and extended it to a 20 point lead by halftime 47-27. The Wildcats mananged to stay a little closer in the second half but were outscored 31-24.

The Cats were led by Oskar Lehtonen with 16 points and eight rebounds including two made 3-pointers. His running mate, Adri Lila, chipped in with 15 points and also grabbed eight rebounds. Freshmen guard Brayden Neff added nine points while Junior Joey Baker also scored nine points.

Paden City will next host Doddridge County on February 21 on Senior Night.
