PCHS Boys Drop Opener of OVAC Tournament

The Paden City Boys Basketball team faced off with the Frontier Cougars on the road on Tuesday February 7 in their first OVAC tournament game and came home on the short end of a 51-37 defeat. The Wildcats keep it close in the first half trailing 9-8 after one period and 23-16 at halftime. The third quarter proved to be the difference as the Cats were outscored 16-9 to extent the Cougar lead heading to the fourth period. The fourth quarter was deadlocked at 12 points each. For the Wildcats Adri Lila recorded a double double with a game high 20 points and 10 rebounds. He was followed by Joey Baker with seven and Mickey Guerra with six points. The Wildcats will next face Beallsville, Ohio in the second game of the OVAC on Friday February 10 at the Bob Burton Gym in Paden City.

Paden City Hosts Beallsville in Round II of the OVAC

The Paden City Wildcats pulled out a hard fought 45-41 victory over Beallsville on Friday night February 10 at Bob Burton gymnasium in Paden City. The game was close throughout with Paden City holding a slim 20-16 lead at halftime. The third quarter saw Beallsville out score of the Wildcats 12-8 to tie score 28-28 heading to the fourth quarter. The Wildcats were not to be defeated as they outscored the Blue Devils17-13 in the fourth to take the victory.

The Wildcats’ Adri Lila was the games leading scorer recording a double double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. He was followed by Oskar Lehtonen with 14 points and eight rebounds including four three-point shots. Rounding out the scoring for the Wildcats was Joey Baker with eight, Mickey Guerrero with four and Jeremiah Thomas with four.

The Wildcats will make the long trip to Mt Storm, WV on Saturday February 11 to take on the Union Tigers.
