Hundred Boys Pickup Win Over Wood County Christian

Hundred high school earned their second win in a row and their fourth in the last seven games, with a 55-41 victory over homestanding Wood County Christian on Monday night, February 5, in Williamstown.

The young Hornets squad got off to a fast start with Trey Huggins knocking in a first quarter three and freshman Colt Sandy hitting a basket and two free throws to propell them to an 11-7 advantage. The second quarter was much the same with Huggins hitting another 3-pointer, Sandy scoring seven and Toby Michael another fresman hitting a three and a conventional basket to lead the Hornets to a 16-12 advantage in the frame and go into halftime up by eight.

Both teams hit for 11 in the third quarter, but Hundred picked sealed the deal with an 18-12 advantage in the final eight minutes, with Josiah Morgan scoring nine of his 11 points in the stanza. Sandy ended as the games leading scorer with 17 points, including a 7-8 showing from the free throw line. Morgan was the other double figure scorer, while Michael added eight. Huggins and Tyler Sleeth another freshman both hit for six markers, Brayden Bartrug got five, including a 3-pointer, and Everett Johnson added two.

Braeyn Joesph led Wood County with 12 points. He received scoring help from Brendan Greene with eight and JJ Dimit with six. The Wildcats hit 17 field goals on the night, including three from beyond the arc, and went 4-11 from the free throw line.

Hundred hit 19 shots from the floor, including five 3-pointers, and went 12-27 from the free throw line. The Hornets are now 7-11 on the season with three games remaining before sectionals.

Bridgeport, Ohio Gets Win Over Hundred

Visiting Bridgeport, picked up an OVAC consolation game win over Hundred on Friday night, with a 71-51 victory. The Bulldogs had four double digit scorers in the contest while the Hornets landed just one in double figures with Josiah Morgan finishing with 10.

Bridgeport had Colin Jackson knock in 18 for a game high, while Gary Widmor added 14, Daniel Spurlock 13, and A.J. Gear got 11.

Karter Parson acked up Morgan with eight points, including a 3-pointer, while Everett Johnson ended with seven, including a three, and Jeffery Morris finished with six. Toby Michael added five, including a three, Brayden Bartrug hit for five as well. Tyler Sleeth pitched in four and Trey Huggins and Jaxon Huggins each hit a 3-pointer.

Hundred hit 18 shots from the floor, including five 3ás, and went 10-16 from the free throw line. Bridgeport canned 27 field goals and made 10-20 from the line.
