Wildcats Lose on the Road to Calhoun
The Paden City boys basketball team traveled to Mt Zion, West Virginia on Friday, January 20 to take on the Calhoun County Red Devils and came home dropping a close one 52-41. The first quarter was close as the Red Devils toke a a 9-5 lead. The second quarter was a different story as Calhoun pulled out to a 26-12 lead by halftime. The game stayed pretty close in the third quarter but a big fourth period gave the home standing Red Devils the margin of victory. The Wildcats had three players reach double figure with Jeremiah Thomas leading the way with 11 points including three from behind the arc. He also had three steals. Freshman Brayden Neff added 10 points on two 3-point shots and Oskar Lehtonen chipped in with 10 points. Mickey Guerra ended the night with seven points on two 3-pointers. The Cats were without their big man, Adri Lila, and struggled to get the rebounds they needed to stay close.
Calhoun was led in scoring by Levi Morris who recorded a game high 21 points.
The Wildcats will next play Parkersburg Catholic in Parkersburg on January 24 looking to pick up win number five.
PCHS Defeats Crusaders
The Paden City Boys Basketball team traveled to Parkersburg on Tuesday January 24 to tackle the Crusaders of Parkersburg Catholic and picked up win number five by the score of 60-50. The Wildcats jumped out to a 9-3 lead after the first period and extended the lead to 25-19 by halftime. A big third quarter for the Wildcats saw them push the lead to 44-30 after three quarters. The 14 point lead was to much for the Crusaders to overcome in the fourth quarter. The Cats had three players hit double figures with big man Adri Lila recording a game high 21 points and nine rebounds. He was followed by Oskar Lehtonen with 18 and also pulled down nine rebounds. Jeremiah Thomas chipped in with 10 points. Rounding out the scoring for the Wildcats was Mickey Guerra with eight points on two 3-point shots.
Paden City will next host the Wirt County Tigers on Saturday January 28.
Paden City is Defeated by Wirt County
The Wildcats of Paden City played host of the Tigers of Wirt County on Saturday, January 28 in boys basketball. The Wildcats fell behind at halftime by the score of 32-20 and a big 18 point fourth quarter by the Tigers put the game out of reach as Wildcats fill 63-30. The bright spot for the Wildcats was two players reaching double figures as Oskar Lehtonen pumped in 12 points followed by Jeremiah Thomas with 10 including three shots from beyond the arc.
Wirt County received a game high 22 points from Conner Hoover.
Next up for the Wildcats is a home contest with visiting Trinity Christian on Tuesday January 31.
