Hundred Gets Win Over East Richland Christian
The Hornets picked up their fourth win on the season Monday night, January 24 in St. Clairsville as they got the best of East Richlad Christian 70-59 in boys high school basketball action. Both teams came out hot with the home team leading after eight minutes 19-18. J.D. Williams had the hot hand in the first quarter for East Richland as he poured in 13 points in the period. In the second period the home team knocked in 22 points to 11 for Hundred and took a 41-29 lead into the halftime break.
The Hornets regrouped and came out scorig 17 points in the third frame to nine for the home squard to make it 50-46 with eight minutes to play. Hundredás defense held East Richland to just one field goal in the fourth quarter a 3-pointer from Will Edmunds and six free throws for nine total points in the frame, while the Hornets knocked in 23 points to get the win.
Edmunds led all scorers in the contest with 24, including four 3-pointers, followed by teammate Williams who hit for 22, including a pair from beyond the arc. However, it wasnát enough to offset the balanced scoring of the Hornets led by freshman Colt Sandy with 22 points, sophomore Brayden Bartrug with 20, and freshman Karter Parson with 10, including two from 3-point land.
Also scoring for the Hornets Everett Johnson with six, Jeffery Morris with five, Jaxon Huggins with a 3-pointer, and Josiah Morgan and Tyler Sleeth with two each.
Hundred hit 26 field goals, including five 3-pointers and went 5-8 from the free throw line. East Richland made 14 shot from the floor, including seven 3-pointers and went 10-19 from the line.
Hornets Net Second Straight Win
On Friday night, January 27, Hundred high school played Host to Harman high school in boys basketball, with the home team Hornets capturing their second straight win on the season with a 71-56 victory over the visitors.
Leading the way for the home team at the Hornets nest was Trey Huggins who hit for a team high 15 points, including three 3-pointers. He was aided by Colt Sandy who knocked14 points, including a 3-pointer, and Brayden Bartrug who added 13. Josiah Morgan added eight to the scorebook, while Tyler Sleeth hit for six, Toby Michael five, Everett Johnson four, Karter Parson with a 3-pointer, and Jaxon Huggins rounding out the score with two.
Harman had three double figure scorers of their own with Paugh grabbing game scoring honors with 22, while Shiflett hit for 16 and Ketterman added 12.
The win gave the Hornets their fifth victory of the season. Hundred made 30 shots from the floor, including six 3ás and went 5-8 from the free throw line. Harman made 18 baskets, including six 3ás and went 14-20 from the free throw line.
