Wheeling Central gets win over Blue Eagles

Magnolia fell to 7-8 on the season Wednesday night, January 18, in Wheeling, as the Central Catholic Maroon Knights improved to 12-1 with a 59-41 victory over the Lady Bue Eagles.

Central capitalized on Magnolia turnovers and a hot shooting night from beyond the arc to gain the win. They received 12 points from Addie Peyton coming off the bench, all on 3-pointers. The Maroon Knights were led by Keiera Wilkinson who nailed 17 points .

Magnolia was led by senior Jenna Blain who hit for 11 points. However all her production came in the first half. She added nine rebounds to barely miss a double-double. The Blue Eagles kept it close most of the first half before Central scored the final five points of thehalf to lead 29-18 at the break. They then outscored the visitors 19-9 in the third to put the game out of reach 46-27 after three. Magnolia took the fourth eight minutes 14-13 but it was to little to late.

Magnolia receive eight points from Gabby Hudson who hit a trio of 3ás, while Lauren Gaiser canned a three and ended with seven markers. Shaela Holliday pumped in six points and Makia Litton ended with five, including a three ball. Sienna McKeever added three points and Mallory McDiffit hit a free throw to end the Blue Eagles scoring.

Wheeling Central hit 24 field goals, including six 3ás wnile making 5-10 free throws. Magnolia hit 15 shots from the floor, including four 3ás and went 7-11 from the free throw line.
