Cougars Take Down Wildcats
The Lady Wildcats of Paden City traveled to Frontier High School on Saturday January 14 to take on the Cougars and came home with a loss 66-20.The Wildcats did not offer up much offense as their leading scorer McKenzie Thomas was held to 11 points on 4 of 20 attempts from the floor. Thomas made three 3 point shots. Also scoring for the Lady Cats was Kim Burch with three, Lexi Mathis with two and Jocelyn Sawinski with two. It was all Frontier as they jumped out to an early first quarter lead 28-2 and never looked back. Seven different Cougars hit the scoring column with K Ramsey leading the way with 22 points.
The Wildcats will next be in action on January 19 when they host Wood County Christian. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
McKenzie Thomas Sets School Record with 39 Points in Victory Over WCC
The Lady Wildcats of Paden City met up with Wood County Christian on Thursday night at Bob Burton Gym in Paden City and came away with their 3rd win of the season defeating WCC by the score of 56-39. McKenzie Thomas had a career night scoring 39 points for the Cats going 3 for 8 on 3-point shots and 12 of 27 from the floor. She also pulled down seven rebounds and had nine steals. The 39 points scored by McKenzie is believed to be a school record for the Lady Wildcats. McKenzie was aided in the scoring column by Jocelyn Sawinski with four points and one rebound, Kim Burch added five points, seven rebounds and three steals. Lexi Mathis scored two points and two steals. Haley Walton pulled down three rebounds and had five steals.
âI thought we played well tonight, McKenzie put the team on her back scoring 39. We are getting better as a team but we need more scoring from other players. We go to Pakersburg Christian on Friday. I feel we are starting to peak at the right time,ã said Head Coach Josh Fulks.
Lady Wildcats Win Second Game in a Row
The Lady Wildcats of Paden City made it two wins in a row with a 48-19 victory over Parkersburg Christian on Friday, January 20 in Parkersburg. The Lady Wildcats had nine players hit the scoring column led by a McKenzie Thomas with 27 points and six rebounds. She was was followed by Kim Burch with five points and three rebounds. Also scoring for the Wildcats was Jocelyn Sawinski with two, Lexi Mathis with two Haley Walton with two, Kaitlyn Householder added four, Mallory Dennis two, Ashton Wade two and Riley Blake rounded out the scoring with two points.
The Wildcats have some momentum going in their direction as they will face off with Madonna on Monday night January 23 in Paden City. It is a big game for the Lady Cats as they seek revenge from an early season loss at Madonna by seven points.
