Paden City Boys Basketball Battles TCHS
The Paden City boys basketball team made the short trip to Tyler Consolidated on Wednesday, January 4, but came home on the short end of a 49-37 defeat. The Wildcats kept it close in the first quarter trailing only 13-9 but a big second quarter by the Silver Knights increased the lead to 31-19 by halftime. The Wildcat offense went cold in the second half scoring only 18 points. Leading scorer for the game was Wildcat Adri Lila with 14 points followed by Jeremiah Thomas with 11 and Oskar Lehtonen with five. The Wildcats came out tough with Mickey Guerra opening the game with a deep three pointer from the corner but was held to only three points on the night. âI was happy with our performance against a formidable opponent, we had a great game plan and played at our pace. I was disappointed with our effort from the free throw line, we went 8 for 21. That is no where near the standard we set for ourselves and it cost us dearly. In the end it came to missed free throws and untimely turnovers. They made shots, we didnát and we came up short,ã said Coach Jarrell Bailey. It was a special night for Coach Bailey as it was the first time he coached against his son, Conner, who is the starting point gurad for TCHS.
Paden City will next travel to Beallsville, Ohio on January 6.
