Derby Erupts for 36 in Win over Hundred
Visiting Hundred ran into a buss saw in Pine Grove, on Tuesday night, December 27, as the Lumberjacks cut down the Hornets with a 27 point win 77-50, behind the efforts of sophomore dandy Gavin Derby.
Taking an early lead the Lumberjacks received 36 points from Derby, including four from beyond the arc and a 10-12 effort from the free throw line. The home team had three players in double figures with junior Dallas Peak popping in 17 markers, including a 3-pointer, and sophomore Landen Jerico pitching in with 12 points. Hundred received a nice effort from frshman Colt Sandy with a team high 13 points, including a 3-pointer. Brayden Bartrug added nine points and eight rebounds in support.
Valley jumped in fromt with a big first quarter and incresed the lead in every period to pick up the win. They used a pressure defense that caused 28 turnovers with Valley getting 14 points from the Hornets miscues. The Lumberjacks also led in rebounding 31-20.
Patrick Higginbotham scored seven points, with a three ball for the winners, and grabbed seven rebounds. Eli Stackpole added three points, while Brigg Stackpole scored a basket, and Ethan Shimp, Chris Kennedy and Trevor Stackpole each hit a free throw for a point.
Hundred got scoring help from Trey and Jaxon Huggins with five markers each, Josiah Morgan and Tyler Sleeth each had four, Jeffery Morris with three, Seth Michael and Everett Johnson had two each and Karter Parson hit a free throw.
Valley hit 27 field goals, including six 3ás and went 17-23 from the charity stripe. Hundred knocked in 19 from the floor, including five 3ás and went 7-12 from the free throw line.
