River falls to Proctorville Fairland
The Lady Pilots lost their first game of the season on Friday at Marietta College in the annual Holiday basketball event. The talented River girls went into the contest on an 11 game winning streak, but the Proctorville squad proved to be too much and knocked the Pilots from the unbeaten ranks 55-45.
River was led by junior guard Kelsey Harlan hit for 17 points, including a 3-pointer to tie Fairlands Russell for game scoring honors, she received support from Rylee Knight with 10 markers. Hannah Raper pitched in with seven points, including a 3-pointer, while Reese Hobbs added five, including a three. Primm hit a 3-pointer for the Pilots, and Fox added three points with a two ball and a free throw.
Fairland landed three players in double figures with Russell hitting 17 and Hinkle adding 12. River hit 17 shots from the floor and went 7-10 from the free throw line.
Lady Pilots sink Buckeye Local 55-51
The homestanding Lady Pilots picked up a win over Buckeye Local for the second time this season as the Pilots junior guard Kelsey Harlan knocked in a game high 28 points Thursday, December 29, on the home floor.
Besides Harlan the Pilots got double figures from senior Hannah Raper with 15, and Rylee Knight with 12. Primm added a free throw to end the scoring for River. The visiting Panthers got a big night from Pam Kandrach with 25 markers, while Emily Valuska added 16, but it wasnát enough as River improved to 10 -0 on the season. Harlan hit three 3-pointers for the home team and Raper added one as well.
As a team River hit 20 shots from the floor and made 11-17 free throws. Buckeye Local made 18 field goals, including six 3-pointers and went 9-15 from the free throw line.
