The OVAC Boys Track Championships

The OVAC Boys Track Championships were held on Saturday, May 7, at St. Clairsville, Ohio. Local teams competing were Magnolia and River in Class 3 and Paden City, Valley and Hundred in Class 1A/2A.

In the Class 1A/2A division Shadyside took top honors with 162 points followed by Wheeling Central with 48 and Wood County Christian with 42. Trinity Christian had 40. Caldwell had 26 and Valley and Southern each had 24. Toronto had 20 and Paden City finished with 18. Bridgeport 10, Beallsville 8 and Conotton Valley ended with 4.

In Class 3A Linsly led the way with 146 points followed by Barnesville with 108. Martins Ferry had 56, Magnolia 34, Buckeye Trail 30, Fort Frye 22 and River Hannibal 8.

In the Boys 110 Meter Hurdles 1A/2A race Paden Cityás Shane Anderson placed fourth for four points for the Wildcats. Nathan Booth of Shadyside won the race with a time of 15.84.

The 4×200 meter relay in Class 1A/2A was won by Wheeling Central with a time of 1:35.64. Paden City with a team of Jasup Spragg, Julian Landauer, William Christensen, and Brandon Hizer placed third with a time of 1:39.55 good for six points. Shadyside won the 4×110 meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.39. Valley placed second with a team of Isaac Calpbell, Landen Jerico, Andrew Shaw, and Gabe Royer in a time of 1:13.54 good for eight points for the Lumberjacks.

The Boys high jump was won by Shadyside’s Wyatt Reiman with a jump of 6-04.00. Second was Paden City’s Shane Anderson with a jump of 5-08.00 good for eight points.

Valley got a first place in the long jump with Tristen Bates getting off a leap f 19-08.00 for 10 points.

In Class 3A Magnolia’s Landen Davis finished fourth in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:59.27 to add four point to the Blue Eagles scorecard. He also finished fourth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:47.41 good for four more points.

River scored four points in the boys 300 meter hurdles with a fourth place finish in a time of 44.70. The Pilots also picked up a fourth place in the 4×200 meter relay race ith a team of Kabel Isaly, Ty Long, Kam Potts and Ian Wohnhas in a time of 1:39.32 good for four points.

Magnolia came in second in the 4×00 meter realy with a team of Lucas Zombotti, Landen Davis, Jordan Davis, and Brady Renner in a time of 8:51.08 good for eight points. The Blue Eagles also got third in the 4×110 meter shuttle hurdles in a time of 1:06.28 good for six points from a team of Damien Gatian, Marxus Barnes, Austin Beverlin, and Brady Renner. Renner gave the Blue Eagles six more points with a third place in the high jump going over the bar at 5-08.00. Beverlin tacked on six more for the Blue Eagles with a third place in the long jump with a leap of 18-04.00.

In the Girls Division championships Fort Frye was the 3A overall champion with 129 points, while Magnolia finished second with 96 points., followed by Linsly with 89. River ended with 18 points in Class 3A. Shadyside won the Class 1A/2/A division championship with 76 points, followed by Caldwell with 64. Paden City finished in third place with 34 points. Hundred had 20 points in 1A/2A. and Valley ended with four.

Paden City started out the scoring for the local teams in the 1600 meter run with Lexi Mathis tacking on four points for the Wildcats with a fourth place finish in a time of 6:01.00. Rachel Snedden of Hundred came in second in the 3200 meter run to give the Hornets eight points with a time of 13:57.51. Paden City added six more points with Hallie McDonald coming in third in the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 51:39. The Wildcats added six more points in the 4×400 meter relay with a time of 4:41.52 with a team of Hallie McDonald, Lexi Mathis, Brandis Dalrymple, and Jocelyn Sawinski.

Paden City took top honors in the 4×100 meter shuttle Hurdles in a time of 1:12.57 good for 10 first place points with a team of Marie Schramm, Mady Still, Brandis Dalrymple, and Hallie McDonald. Valley picked up four points in the race with a time of 1:20.10 good for fourth place from a team of Addison Brown, Darsey Pittman, Kasey Barker, and Madelyn Campbell.

Paden City placed second in the long jump with a leap of 14-05.50 from Jocelyn Sawinski good for eight Wildcat points. Hundred got six points in the shot put with junior Leah Dlaney getting a third place toss of 33-09.00.The Hornets picked up six more in the discus throw with sophomore Areonna Zarco throwing 83-08.

In Class 3A Magnolia took tops in the 100 meter dash as Jaci Rohde ran a 12.89 to give the Blue Eagles 10 points. River came in fourth in the race with Chloe Honeycutt coming in at 13.95 good for four points. Jenna Blain came in second in the 200 meter dash to give the Blue Eagles eight more points as she ran a 27.33. Kaylee Cline took third place for Magnolia in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:07.11 good for six more Blue Eagle markers. Mara Beard of River gave the Pilots six points as she finished the 3200 meter run in a time of 12:47.58 good for third place.

Magnolia then got a third place finish from Emma Spitzer in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.38 good for six Blue Eagle points. Jenna Blain then came on to grab first place in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 48.80 good for 10 points to Magnolia’s scorecard.

Magnolia went to work in the relays taking second place in the 4×100 with a time of 54.37 from a team of Kalleigh Beisel, Bre Herrick, Sienna McKeever, and Jaci Rohde good for eight points. In the 4×200 meter relay the Blue Eagle team of Kaylee Cline, Bre Herrick, Sienna McKeever, and Jenna Blain took the top spot in a time of 1:53.09 to add 10 fist place points to the Blue Eagle total. In the 4×400 meter relay the Blue Eagles took fourth place for four more points with a time of 4:38.10 from a team of Shy Simmons, Laci Scott, Kaylee Cline and Bre Herrick.

Magnolia continued to pile up points in the relays with a first place finish in the 4×100 meter shuttle hurdles in a time of 1:12.60 from a team of Kaylee Williams, Emma Spitzer, Shaela Holliday, and Jenna Blain adding 10 points to the teams total.

Jaci Rohde added eight more points for Magnolia as she finished second in the pole vault with a vault of 8-06.00. She followed that up with a first place leap in the long jump of 16-05.25 good for 10 more points for the Blue. River added eight points to their team total on a second place leap from Chloe Honeycutt of 15-00.75.
