Magnolia Lady Blue Eagles on October 5, at the Magnolia High School gym welcomed the Cameron Dragons. The Dragons were no match for the Lady Eagles losing 25-9, 25-5, and 25-5. The Eagles improve to 10-3 on the season.

Two seniors reached a milestone in Coach Pam Chapman’s 30-year coaching tenure. Lenieca Grimm has recorded 2941 assists and Mady Winters in just three seasons having 1074 kills to set Magnolia records. Chapman said, Lenieca’s assists are a record since she has been coaching. Congratulations to Mady and Lenieca.

The first set of the night set the tone for the match with Magnolia’s frontline of Mady Winters, Victoria Hood, and Shyanna White getting numerous kills. Dragons had no answers for the Eagles hitters and dropped the first set 25-9.

The Blue Eagles Jaci Rhode scored the first 15 points of the second set to push the lead out to 15-0 before the Dragons would score. Victoria Hood was dominate in the middle with several thunderous spikes to lead Coach Pam Chapman’s team to a convincing 25-5 win in the set.

The third set was the same story with Winters, Hood, and White being strong at the net. Grimm served the last six points and Winters ended the set and match with a huge spike for the victorious Blue Eagles. The score in third set was 25-5.

Winters and Hood Leads Way Combined For 13 Aces

Magnolia tandem of Mady Winters and Victoria Hood combined for 24-points with 13 service aces to lead Magnolia to a season-sweep of River 25-9, 25-15 and 25-4 Oct. 6 inside R.L. Potts Gymnasium.

Winters served up half of her 14-points with aces, while Hood was one-up on her 10-points. Winters also broke the bank with 15-kills, 4-blocks and as many digs, while Hood smacked 13-kills and collected 5-digs. Teammate Jaci Rhode tacked on 7-points and 6-kills.

For the Pilots, Hannah Raper provided 7-assists and 4-digs, while Kami Todd dished out 3-assists and bumped up 2-digs to lead the Lady Pilots. Both Kiera Saksa and Kiley Wagnild each provided 5-digs, while Paige Barkes and Rilyn Haught each collected 4-digs and blocked a shot.

The win for Magnolia pushed their season record to 11-3.

Eagles defeat Bridgeport

The Blue also got a big win over Bridgeport as Shy White led the way with 28 points from the service line, which included 11 aces. She also added six kills. Jaci Rhode contributed to the win with 15 points and an ace, plus a kill. Lenieca Grimm continued to impress with her setting as she had 29 assists, plus four kills. Mady Winters who played sparingly got 12 kills, three digs, one point on an ace serve. Victoria Hood served up six points, including two aces and added two kills. Lauren Gaiser added two kills.
