Wildcat Baseball Wins Two
The Paden City Wildcat varsity baseball team won two of three games played last week, splitting a double header with Bridgeport at home and defeating Frontier also at Paden City Park.
On April 1 the Wildcats hosted the Frontier Cougars at home, sending them back to Ohio with the loss as the Green and White took the win, 13-0.
Isaac Hall got the win on the mound for the ‘Cats, pitching five strike outs and four walks. Hayden Hizer came in for the save, walking one and striking out two.
At the plate, Hizer doubled and brought home two runs; Levi Meadows hit three singles for two RBIs; Luke Cooper doubled for two RBIs; Hall hit one single to collect an RBI; Michael Wilcox singled for an RBI; Kennedy Cain hit one single and one double for two RBIs; and Craig Allen hit two singles in the win.
In a double header on Saturday in Paden City, the ‘Cats fell to a tough Bridgeport team, 3-0 in the first game. Thanks to cold bats and a strong arm Bulldog pitcher, Paden City could not catch a break in the game.
The loss on the mound went to Cooper who walked five batters and struck out four. Cooper also had the only real offensive highlight for the Green, with a double.
Game two of the series was another story. The ‘Cats woke up their bats and played hard ball in order to shut-out their visitors 10-0. Hizer pitched three strike outs and walked two for the home team and doubled and singled at the plate.
Zach Heasley smacked a home run to right field for three RBIs; Cooper doubled; Hall hit a single to collect an RBI; Kolton Elliot singled to bring home two runs; and Allen and Cain each singled in the game.
Paden City will play at Wheeling Central on April 8 and at Bishop Donahue on April 9. On April 11 the team will host Madonna at home.
