Lady ‘Cats Split Wins
Paden City High School’s Lady Wildcat softball team split wins last week with two opponents.
Paden City played host to the Frontier Lady Cougars on April 1, falling to the Blue, 10-6 after seven innings. Though Paden City held the lead 4-2 after four complete, Frontier scored eight runs in the last three innings to take the win.
The Cougars had 10 runs on 10 hits and had three errors in the game while the Green and White scored their six runs on eight hits and committed 10 errors in the loss.
Aubrey Neff worked the first position for the ‘Cats, for five innings, striking out five. Taylor Cosper went two innings in the circle, striking out two and walking one.
Cosper made the highlights at the plate for the Green as well with a home run and a single for two RBI’s. Graeson Baker brought home two runs; and Neff doubled for two RBI’s.
At Bellaire St. John Central on April 2, the Lady ‘Cats scored 10 runs on seven hits to take the 10-5 win over the Irish.
A great offensive effort by Paden City highlighted the game as four players doubled in the effort. Cosper went 2-4 at the plate, singling and doubling on the day-scoring two runs herself and batting in one; Baker singled and doubled and had two RBI’s; Aubrey Neff, singled, had two RBI’s, and scored four runs; Megan Pierce doubled; and Madaline Cox doubled for an RBI.
Amber Neff got the win as the Wildcat pitcher, walking seven and striking out three.
The Lady Wildcats will host the Lady Pilots of River on April 8 at 5 p.m. and will travel to Bishop Donahue on April 9. The team is scheduled to play a double header at Clay-Battelle on April 10 and at Trinity at noon on April 11.
