North American Youth

Sports Tournament On Tap

Parkersburg South and Parkersburg High schools will be hosting a North American Youth Sports Tournament April 10-12 for boys and girls in the following divisions: 5/6th Grade, 7th Grade, 8th Grade, 9/10th Grade and 11/12th Grade. Each team is guaranteed 2 games. Cost is $120, with deadline of April 2 to meet the first schedule run. West Virginia Hunter Education

Classes Offered

A West Virginia Hunter Education Course will be held on Saturday, April 18 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Sunday, April 19 from 1-5 p.m. at the Mollohan Center on the Wetzel County 4-H Campgrounds. Course is open to anyone 10 years of age and older.

Persons wanting to take this class must register before April 17. Proof of identification will be required. To register or for more information, please call 304-398-4240 after 5 p.m.

Upon completion of the course, participants will receive certification good in all 50 states.

Recreational Youth Basketball

Tournament Scheduled In May

North American Sports will hold its summer regional youth basketball tournament at Parkersburg South High School May 29-31 for boys and girls in grades five through 12. Entry fee is $250 and guarantees each team a minimum of five games.

Awards will be made to the winners in each age bracket and those teams finishing first, second or third automatically become eligible for the NAYS National Championship tournaments in July. Registration deadline is May 8.

Volleyball Official Classes Offered

Get certified to officiate volleyball in West Virginia for the 2015-16 season by completing a 30-hour course. The Ohio River Valley Volleyball Officiating Board is seeking individuals who are interested in taking on the challenge of being a game official.

Classes will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. at Sistersville Elementary School. There will be 10 class meetings from April 2-May 7.

River Trail Bike Trek, May 14-17

The American Lung Association in West Virginia (ALA-WV) is now registering participants for the 28th annual Greenbrier River Trail Bike Trek (GTBT). Biking enthusiasts won’t want to miss this exciting 100-mile ride through the scenic Greenbrier River State Park, May 14-17.
