MHS Lady Thinclads Look To Be Loaded

By Staff | Apr 1, 2015

The 2015 Magnolia Blue Eagle Girls’ Track Team looks to be loaded for bear this season, as 28 athletes have come out, including 10 returning lettermen. Nine of the letter winners were state qualifiers, led by Kierra Standiford, Bailey Estep, Sofia Herrick, Kristen Massey, Cedar Sands, Alayna Cline, Bri Ritz, Mandi Theodoro and Rachel Arbogast.

MHS graduate Lauren Cline, a state qualifier and medallist, will be missed, not only for her running ability, but also for her enthusiasm and leadership. However, Head Coach Steve Ross has some new weapons at his disposal, including sophomore sensation Jordan Delaney in many events, along with Anna Zills and Bre Sizemore in the discus and shot put.

Look for Savanna Bates in the sprints and hurdles, Katie Ensinger in the mid-distance events and Ariel Hostuttler, Evan Dawson and Kara Boggs in the long distance events.

Additionally, there are newcomers like Alexis Cartwright, who will be seen in the long jump and sprints. Zoa Duke, Brooke Maston, Anne Miller, Emily McIlvain, Traysa Robinson, Summer Timbs, Maria Turcios, Chelsey White and Hannah Fluharty will help out.

Also you can add Courtney Slider in the long jump, sprints and hurdles to help make an interesting Lady Blue Eagle squad that is hungry enough to make some noise in girls’ track this season.

Because of a poor sound system and ineffective lighting and seating for the spectators, there will not be any home meets this season. Lady Blue Eagle track fans will need to travel to Tyler Consolidated and other schools to watch these ladies compete.

The next meets that the girls will participate in are April 2 and April 7 at Tyler Consolidated with times TBA.
