Eagles Fly By Lady ‘Cats
Magnolia 64,
Paden City 30
The Magnolia Blue Eagles raced out to a commanding 20-1 advantage and never looked back in handing the outmanned Paden City Lady Wildcats a 64-30 loss Feb. 2 inside Bob Burton Gymnasium.
Grace Berisford led the way for the Eagles, scoring a game-high 16 points, including four baskets from beyond the arc, while adding six assists and three steals. Kelsi Chapman followed with 13 points, one basket from beyond the elbow and made four steals.
In addition, Kierra Standiford scored nine points and grabbed nine rebounds, while making three steals. Anna Gibb came off the bench to tally seven markers, while Jordan Delaney tallied four markers and made a game-high five steals. Logan Riggs also netted four markers, while Taylor Ludewig sank a deuce and made three steals.
For the Lady Wildcats, Hannah Stanley netted a team-high eight markers, including two baskets from beyond the arc, while Cydney Blatt added six points. Kayla Hizer and Malayna Price each netted five points, while Chelsea Baker added four and Darien Ritchie a deuce.
St. John 61,
Paden City 40
The Lady ‘Cats’ Hannah Stanley sank three baskets from beyond the arc enroute to a game-high 20 points, but it couldn’t hold off a 61-40 win by Bellaire St. John Jan. 28 at Bob Burton Gymnasium.
Cydney Blatt recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Aubrey Neff sank four markers. Kayla Hizer tallied three points, while Malayna Price swished a deuce.
Paden City 57,
Van 25
Hannah Stanley scored a game-high 28 points, including two from beyond the arc, to lead the Lady Wildcats to a convincing 57-25 victory over Van in H.I.T. action Feb. 1 at Cameron High School.
Kayla Hizer scored a dozen points, while Aubrey Neff contributed seven points and made seven steals in a nice all-around performance.
In addition, Darien Ritchie sank six points, while Cydney Blatt netted two baskets and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Monroe Central 63,
Magnolia 55
Grace Berisford, Kelsi Chapman and Taylor Ludewig each scored a dozen points, but it wasn’t enough to get past Monroe Central 63-55 Jan. 29 in Woodsfield.
The Lady Eagles fell behind 16-14 after one period of play, but went into the locker room up, 25-24. Central tied things up after three periods, before out-scoring Magnolia, 18-10 in the fourth to gain the nod.
Katie Blatt and Kierra Standiford netted nine and eight points, respectively, while Jordan Delaney sank a deuce.
The Eagles made 17 steals on the night, with Berisford making seven, while Ludewig and Blatt each stole four. Standiford, also made three blocks, while pulling down six rebounds, while Blatt and Chapman grabbed 11 and eight rebounds respectively. Ludewig dished out three assists.
