MHS Grapplers Win River Tourney
The Magnolia Blue Eagles won the 2015 River Wrestling Tournament with 148 points, while the River Pilots claimed second with 146 points and Tyler Consolidated finished third in the five-team tournament.
Brandon Baker of Tyler Consolidated defeated Blue Eagle Martin Baker in the 106 lb. weight class, while Magnolia’s Jack Booth beat Devon Clark of Shenandoah for the 120 lb. division.
Daniel Goddard of Magnolia won the 126 lb. weight division, while Josh Stewart defeated Bailey Chaplin of Shadyside in the 132 lb. division. Brandon Doty defeated Colton Mead of Tyler Consolidated for third place.
The Pilots’ Chase Schultheis defeated Matt Shaw of Shadyside in the 138 lb. class, while Christian Bond of Shenandoah defeated Skylar Yoho of Magnolia for third place.
The Pilots’ Aiden Taylor and Zac Talbott won first place in the 145 lb. and 152 lb. weight classes, respectively. Chase Cooper of Tyler and Robert Campbell finished second and third, respectively, in the 145 lb. class, while John Wood of Shenandoah placed second. Joseph Layman of Magnolia finished third and Archie Petin placed fourth in the 152 lb. weight division.
Hunter Partridge and Chase Delvecchio of Magnolia finished first and second, respectively, in the 160 lb. class.
Harley Price and Dalton Prichard of Magnolia finished in the number one and two slots, respectively, in the 170 weight division, while Luke Matusik lost to David Freeman of Shenandoah in the 182 lb. class.
Kyulie Saling of Shenandoah, Josh Robinson of Shadyside, and Nathan Rainey of River finished one, two, and three in the 195 weight division, while Tyce Felton of River beat Nathan Eddy of Tyler in the 220 lb. weight class.
In the heavyweight division, Cory Chipps of Tyler beat Luk Baker of River, while Donavan Sawyers of Magnolia beat Broc Mericle of River for third place.
