Lady Eagles Win Two Games

Frontier 64

Kelsi Chapman paced three Magnolia double-digit scorers with 22 points and five rebounds to drop the Frontier Cougars 70-64 Jan. 26 inside MHS HammerDome.

Grace Berisford added 17 points, five assists, three steals and blocked two shots for the Lady Eagles, while Kierra Standiford pumped in 11 points, blocked two and highjacked two.

In addition, Katie Blatt stuffed the stat sheet with six points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals, while Taylor Ludewig netted five points, dished out a team-high six assists and four steals. Autumn Cecil came off the bench to net four points and slap away two Lady Cougar shots, while Anna Gibb drained three points and Jordan Delaney sank a deuce.

The Lady Cougars were paced by Lexi Brookover with 25 points, while Kylie Daugherty netted 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

The Lady Blue Eagles will finish the month on the road, weather permitting, against Monroe Central on Jan. 29 and will open February with an away game against Paden City Feb. 2. Both games scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m.

Magnolia 70,

Cameron 45

The Magnolia Lady Blue Eagles snatched a 27-11 first-quarter lead and never missed a step in winning over the home-standing Lady Dragons 70-45 Jan. 21.

The Lady Eagles scored in double figures, with Grace Berisford leading the charge with 21 points that included five baskets from beyond the arc. She also dished out six of the team’s 21 assists.

Kelsi Chapman followed with 15 markers, including 7-8 charity tosses, while Taylor Ludewig netted 11 markers and made five assists. In addition, Jordan Delaney and Katie Blatt each tallied seven markers, with Delaney swishing all three of her free throw attempts and Blatt hauling in a team-high six rebounds.

Anna Gibb contributed five points, while Kierra Standiford netted three points and Autumn Cecil scored a deuce.

In the two-period JV game, the Eagles won 29-26.

Delaney and Cecil scored 14 and 12 points respectively to pace the young Eagles.
