Heasley Reaches Milestone In Loss

By Staff | Jan 21, 2015

Zach Heasley swished a charity toss early in the third period Jan. 16 to give him 1,000 points for his career at Paden City High School. He also scored a game-high 22 points against Bishop Donahue that included five baskets from beyond the arc. Despite that, the Bishops prevailed 63-52 inside a packed Bob Burton Gymnasium.

The Wildcats outscored Donahue 10-6 in the opening quarter, but a 24-16 second period outburst gave the visitors a 30-26 advantage at the break.

The Bishops went on an 11-8 run in the third period and had a 12-point lead early in the fourth frame. The ‘Cats chopped the lead down to a deuce, before Donahue went on to claim the nod.

Only three Wildcats scored in the game. Kennedy Cain followed Heasley with 16 points and pulled down 13 rebounds, while Luke Cooper netted 14 points and grabbed 10 boards. Heasley missed a double-double with nine rebounds. Hayden Hizer dished out a team-high five assists.

The Wildcats look to get back on the winning track when they host Beallsville Tuesday. They will also host a first-round opponent of the H.I.T. Jan. 23 at 6 p.m.
